Civil War!

I can say with a good deal of certainty that most of the people I know are not reading Marvel's seven part "Civil War" storyline. You are missing something awesome. Civil War made front page news a few months ago when, in Civil War #2, Peter Parker publicly unmasked himself as Spider-Man at a press conference, forever changing the character. (Don't believe the big news part? Check here and here.)

Well Civil War #6 came out yesterday and DAMN. Awesome on every page, and the last page sets up what promises to be an epic battle in the climax of the series. Civil War #7 comes out at the end of this month and I can't wait.

Oh, what is Civil War about? Well, after a catastrophic explosion caused by glory seeking teenage super heroes the US Government calls for legislation to govern all super-powered beings. The new law, known as the Superhuman Registration Act, forces all super humans to register with the federal government and become civil servants trained and paid to fight crime. Some don't want to register, of course, and as those that refuse to register are fugitives, civil war (in the superhuman community) breaks out. Heroes fighting heroes! Super villains signing up with the feds to track down and kill superheroes! As you can imagine, things get out of control very quickly. (For a more detailed summary, check Wikipedia.)

Still don't want to read it? Then there is nothing else I can say to convince you. Oh well.
