Check out this awesome little 2-button box, the iRecord. Connect a video signal to one end, a USB storage device to the other, press the record button and in real time you are recording the video in MP4, which can play on iPods, PSPs, etc.
Had I known about this a few months ago I might have got this instead of my TV DVD Recorder, as the iRecord is only slightly more expensive than the unit I got.
