Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets, Loveless) has been given free reign to re-imagine the DC Universe, bringing it back to it's pulp fiction origins. This new universe is called "First Wave" and it is launched in Batman/Doc Savage Special (One Shot). I'm not going to spoil it, I'm just going to say that it is awesome and Azzarello has finally made Batman the bad-ass he should always have been. I'm just going to show you two panels from one of the first few pages.
That's right. That's Batman, running backwards through a window, whilst firing two guns. Bad. Ass. The panel doesn't do full justice to Phil Noto's art, which is excellent throughout the whole issue.
I can't wait for this series to continue. The First Wave #1 is due out in March.
