Musical Tesla Coils

It look a little searching to determine how this works, but I found a fairly detailed and (what I think is a) plausible explanation here. Basically, you open/close the spark gap at the frequency of musical notes. You also have to increase the power output so that you create an audible "lighting crack", so to speak. Most Tesla Coils don't use this much power, but that's all a design aspect, nothing preventing it from happening in an engineering sense.

A Google search for "musical Tesla coil" turns up a lot of videos, by far this is my favorite.
